December 3, the 173rd CIDEG Academic Salon was held in the afternoon  in Conference Room 620 at the School of Public Policy and Management,  Tsinghua University, titled “Fiscal Surplus, Institutional Constraints and  Government Corruption – Instrumental Variables-Based Causal Evidence”.  The keynote speaker of the session was Wei Wenchi (Assistant Professor,  School of Public Administration and Policy, Renmin University of China;  “Distinguished Scholar”). Chen Jidong (Associate Professor, School of  Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University) and Hu Yue (Assistant  Professor, Department of Political Studies, Tsinghua University) were invited to  the session as guest speakers for discussion. Zhao Jing (Associate Professor,  School of Public Policy and Management; Assistant Director, CIDEG, Tsinghua  University) moderated the session.
