Human capital is an important variable in determining economic development, and as officials play an important role in the process of economic development, their human capital is even more important. China's unique system of training, selecting and appointing officials provides a wealth of information for the study of officials' human capital, and the study of the human capital of Chinese officials greatly enriches the social science community's understanding of the role of the government in the economy, while at the same time providing us with a clearer understanding of China's contemporary political system.
